Earthmoving
Allied Commercial provides comprehensive excavation services with cutting-edge equipment and advanced methodologies for precision, productivity, and safety across all projects.
Overview
Allied Commercial's earthmoving division provides the ground-level foundation works that underpin successful construction projects. From bulk excavation and site preparation to precision grading, retaining wall construction, and landscape finishing, our in-house fleet and experienced operators deliver earthworks to engineering specification without the delays and coordination issues of subcontracting.
Our fleet includes excavators from 1.5T mini-excavators for confined access through to 30T machines for bulk cut-and-fill operations, complemented by skid steers, compaction rollers, and tipper trucks. All machines are equipped with GPS-guided machine control systems that reference the engineering design model in real-time, eliminating the need for manual pegging and reducing rework to near zero.
We hold the necessary licenses for asbestos removal (Class A and B), contaminated soil handling, and sediment and erosion control. Environmental management plans are prepared for every project, addressing stormwater management, dust suppression, noise limitations, and vibration monitoring where adjacent structures are sensitive.
Allied integrates earthmoving with our concrete and retaining wall capability, allowing us to deliver complete site preparation packages -- from raw ground through to finished slab, hardstand, or landscaped surface -- under a single contract and programme.

Key Benefits
- In-house fleet eliminates subcontractor coordination delays
- GPS machine control delivers +-10mm accuracy first time
- Integrated retaining wall and concrete capability
- Licensed for contaminated soil handling and asbestos removal
- Environmental controls included as standard
- Single contract from raw ground to finished level
Engineering Capabilities
What we deliver
Bulk excavation and cut-to-fill operations
GPS-guided machine control for precision grading
Slab and site preparation to engineering levels
Retaining wall construction -- timber, block, and concrete
Batter stabilisation and ground improvement
Stormwater drainage installation
Sediment and erosion control per local authority requirements
Contaminated soil handling and disposal (licensed)
Engineering Standards
Australian Standards compliance
Governs fill placement, compaction testing requirements, and acceptable material specifications for all earthwork operations.
Referenced for site classification and foundation preparation requirements that determine cut depths and fill specifications.
Stormwater infrastructure installed during earthworks must comply with this standard for pipe sizing, gradients, and connection details.
Applies to fuel storage and refuelling operations on earthwork sites where heavy machinery is operating.

Engineering Methodology
How we deliver
Survey & Geotechnical
GPS site survey to establish existing levels and a geotechnical investigation to determine soil classification, bearing capacity, and any contamination issues that affect methodology.
Environmental Setup
Sediment and erosion controls are installed before any ground is broken. Environmental management plans are lodged with the local authority where required.
Earthworks Execution
Excavation, grading, and compaction to engineering levels with continuous GPS machine control. Compaction testing at hold points per AS 3798.
Handover & Certification
As-built survey, compaction test certificates, and site clearance. The site is handed over ready for the next trade -- slab, services, or landscaping.
FAQ
Common questions
What size excavation projects do you take on?
Our fleet covers the full commercial range: 1.5T mini-excavators for confined courtyards and internal demolition access through to 30T machines for bulk cut-and-fill. Typical projects run from single-allotment commercial pads to multi-stage industrial subdivisions. Because the fleet and operators are in-house, small works are not deprioritised behind larger jobs and pricing stays consistent across project sizes.
How is compaction verified on commercial earthworks?
Compaction is tested with a nuclear density gauge at hold points set out under AS 3798, typically every 500 square metres per fill layer or as specified by the geotechnical engineer. Results are recorded against the engineering specification and a compaction certificate is issued at handover, which the certifier and structural engineer rely on before slab works proceed.
Can you handle contaminated or acid sulfate soils?
Yes. We hold licences for contaminated soil handling and transport, and our environmental plans cover acid sulfate soil management where excavation extends below the water table in coastal Queensland. Material is classified by laboratory testing, tracked with waste transport certificates, and disposed at licensed facilities, with documentation supplied for the site audit trail.
Do you provide detailed site levels before quoting?
For projects beyond simple pad preparation we conduct a GPS survey of existing levels and model the cut-and-fill balance before fixing a price. This removes the most common source of earthworks variations: inaccurate volume assumptions. Where a geotechnical report exists we price against it; where one does not, we can arrange the investigation as part of the engagement.
