FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Height safety compliance, ATA certification, and multi-trade commercial services.
Height Safety
How often must height safety systems be inspected in Australia?
Under AS/NZS 1891.4:2025, permanently installed fall-arrest systems require inspection by a competent person at intervals not exceeding 12 months. In Queensland, cable-based systems typically require six-monthly inspection under the state code of practice. South Australia also mandates six-monthly checks for certain prescribed equipment. Allied tracks state rules per building so certificates do not lapse.
What does ATA Certified mean for height safety work?
ATA Certified is an industry competency programme from Anchor Testing Australia, not an RTO qualification. Allied holds ATA Installer, ATA Tester, and ATA Height Safety tiers. Technicians have passed assessments on anchor methodology, inspection criteria, and standards-compliant reporting. Credentials can be verified at anchortesting.au/certified/certificate.
Do you inspect systems installed by other companies?
Yes. Allied inspects and certifies all brands and system types. We assess against AS/NZS 1891.4:2025, AS 5532:2025, and AS 1657. Design non-compliances are documented separately from maintenance defects.
What happens when an anchor fails inspection?
The item is red-tagged and taken out of service immediately. We provide photography, defect description, risk assessment, and a rectification quote within 48 hours. After repair, the item is re-inspected and re-certified.
Is annual proof load testing required on every anchor?
Not always under AS/NZS 1891.4:2025. Multi-fastener anchors may not require annual proof load when full installation documentation exists. Single-fix anchors and competent-person assessment outcomes may still require proof loading at installation or inspection. Allied applies the standard correctly per anchor type.
Construction
Can Allied deliver remediation in occupied buildings?
Yes. Occupied commercial buildings are a core specialty. We stage works to maintain weather protection, minimise tenant disruption, and coordinate access with building managers.
Do you provide engineering support on remediation projects?
In-house structural engineers work alongside construction crews to resolve design issues on site and prepare repair specifications aligned with AS 3600 and EN 1504.
Facades
Does facade work include height safety?
Yes. Facade remediation and glazing projects include height safety assessment. Anchor points, static lines, or guardrails are specified where rope access or maintenance access is required.
Can you audit facade compliance?
Our audits and inspections division documents defect mapping, water ingress risk, and remediation scopes for strata, insurers, and asset managers.
Roofing
Is height safety included in commercial re-roofs?
Every Allied re-roof includes a height safety assessment. Anchor points, static lines, and walkways can be installed during the re-roof programme so the new roof is compliant from handover.
What roofing brands do you install?
We install Colorbond and BlueScope systems with warranty-compliant detailing. Leak detection uses moisture scanning and targeted wet tests before specifying repair scope.
