275 Grey St
South Brisbane — February 2026
Allied Commercial was engaged to replace a damaged glass pane on Level 13 of the Southpoint Building at 275 Grey Street, South Brisbane. The works required meticulous planning due to the building's height, location, and surrounding traffic conditions. A scope of works that would typically be completed via rope access was deemed unfeasible, as the glazing panel was positioned on the underside of the building façade. The restricted access and complex geometry required an alternative methodology to ensure a safe and compliant installation. Allied Commercial developed and executed a comprehensive access and lifting strategy incorporating a full road closure, certified traffic management, and a crane lift operation. To facilitate the safe placement of the replacement glass, the building's external façade fins were temporarily removed, eliminating the risk of impact damage during lifting and manoeuvring. This engineered solution enabled the works to be completed without closing both directions of traffic, significantly reducing disruption to surrounding businesses, residents, and the public realm.
